Like many people on Tumblr, I use it as a set of bookmarks for image research, and for inspiration. In my case, I’m looking for inspiration in the area of the masculine image.
I once checked out Lookbook, which seemed like it was full of beautiful, skinny tweenage girls and effeminate, gay tweenage boys. Being 38, male and heterosexual, there wasn’t much for me there. (Nothing personal against 19 year old girls and gay boys of course…I just happen to be neither.)
About 90% of the fashion industry is also totally useless (and not just to myself), with it’s emphasis on exclusivity, high cost, perfection and youth.
So Ragged Glory exists as a kind of DIY men’s magazine, pulling in images from worlds of contemporary photography, lifestyle and craft alongside vintage memories of the past. It’s a magazine edited by and for myself, and one which I hope others will enjoy.
